2023 Texas UIL State Gold Champions
At VRHS Robotics, we believe that the power of robotics and technology can transform the world. Our award-winning program at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, TX prepares students for careers in STEM by providing hands-on experience with hardware, software, technology marketing, collaboration, and leadership. We are proud to be part of the Leander ISD community and to have a vision of inspiring the next generation of innovators.
Vista Ridge High School currently has three FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams. Each team includes a team captain and hardware, software, and marketing team members.
Rogue Resistance, formed in 2014, were the 2023 Texas State UIL Gold Champions. They have a long history of receiving FTC award recognition and of giving back to the local, of promoting diversity in STEM, and engaging in STEM outreach to the global community. For the 2023-24 season, 9527 received the Innovate Award by RTX 2nd Place at the semi-area championship.
Chaotic Current, formed in Fall of 2022, is the newest team within the VRHS Robotics family. For the 2023-24 season, they ranked 9th for the Texas FTC UIL 6A State Championship. They also received several awards throughout the season, including the Control Award and Inspire Award 2nd Place at the Central WA-Le Tournament and Motivate 3rd place at the Central Area Championship.
Static Void, first formed in 2013, made Worlds in 2017, 2019, and 2020. They were a Worlds semifinalist second pick in 2017 and won the Texas state UIL championship in 2017. For the 2023-24 season, Static Void received a Control Award 3rd Place and Think Award 2nd Place at the Central WA-Le Tournament and a Control Award at the Semi Area Championship in Austin.
VRHS Robotics sponsor, coaches, and mentors provide a safe, positive robotics lab environment where students can grow in their leadership, hardware, software, business, and interpersonal skills.
Ms. El Zein has a Masters degree in Computer Science and has taught both math and technology for 10 years. She teaches AP Computer science, Comp Sci III and Practicum of IT.
Dr. Tanima Mukherjee has a PhD in Theoretical Physics and a research background in Atomic & Molecular Physics. With 15 years in curriculum design, she currently teaches Physics and AP Physics.
Dr. Simon Yau has a PhD in Computer Engineering from A&M. He teaches Computer Science and Cybersecurity. His recent work in industry includes prototyping 5G NR Test Systems.
Ms. Blaszak received her BA from UNT and has a business and education background. She has taught in LISD since 2015. She teaches English, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Biology, & Astronomy.
Mr. Peabody is the Assistant Principal supporting the VRHS Robotics program. He has his Ed.D degree in Educational Leadership and has served as an Assistant Principal in Leander ISD for 5+ years.
VRHS Robotics sponsors make it possible for VRHS Robotics students to participate in FTC competitions. Their generous donations provide the essentials that enables our students to learn and grow as a team.
The VRHS Robotics Boosters are part of the VRHS Engineering Booster Club and is made up of family members, community members, and others who support the VRHS Robotics teams.
Eloise serves as President and has responsibility for fundraising, social media marketing, robotics mentor programs, industry outreach, and events.
Elizabeth serves as Vice President and has the responsibility for membership drives, fundraising, and establishing relationships other high school Robotics organizations.
Kannika serves as Treasurer and has responsibility for budget and finances, team meals, ordering shirts, insurance, and robot transportation.
Barbara serves as Secretary and has responsibility for recording, reporting, and maintaining all records of decisions made by the Board and Robotics Booster organization.
